Andhra style Nuvvula pachadi - Andhra Sesame chutney

Nuvvula Pachadi or the sesame chutney is the regional dish of Andhra and Tamilnadu.  This chutney is full of flavour as it is made with sesame seeds.  The nuvvula pachadi is very rich in healthy fatty acids, minerals and vitamins which are very good for our body.  

It is very easy to make Nuvvula pachadi.  It takes hardly 15 minutes to prepare nuvvula pachadi so it can be made in the days when you feel lazy.. The nuvvula pachadi can be served along with Idli and dosa.  Also it can be served along with steamed rice.

Related imageIngredients required :
  • Unpolished sesame seeds ( nuvvulu )  - 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric -  1/4 tsp
  • Oil - 1 table spoon
  • Red chillies - 4 to 5 nos
  • 1/2" ball of tamarind
  • Salt to taste

For tempering :
  • Oil ( preferably sesame oil )  - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds -  1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -  1 tsp
  • Split red chilly -  1 no
  • Curry leaves -  a few
Method of preparing nuvvula pachadi :
  • Heat the sesame oil in a kadai on a low flame
  • Now add sesame seeds and chillies
  • Stir fry till the seeds puff up a bit and become aromatic and change the color
  • Turn off the heat and add tamarind and turmeric
  • Grind with some water and salt till it is thick paste
  • Tempering : 
  • Now heat the oil in a ladle
  • Add mustard seeds and wait till they splutter
  • Add cumin seeds and split red chillies and stir fry for a few seconds till they change color
  • Now turn off the heat and add curry leaves in tempering
  • Mix well and add to the nuvvula pachadi

Serve this nuvvula pachadi with steamed rice and sesame oil....
